Tools from Diametal AG are not subject to the REACH Declaration

The new EU Directive REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) regulates, as its acronym indicates, the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemical substances within the European Union.

In order that our Swiss-based company can continue to market its products within the countries of the EU, any substances falling under the REACH directive (both in preparations and in finished products) must have been pre-registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki by the deadline of 1st December 2008. In a second phase of the complete registration process, the already pre-registered substances must be fully registered between 1st December 2010 and 1st June 2018, whereby the exact timing depends on their hazard potential and the annual production or import volume.

After consultation with the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, it is clear that Diametal AG is not subject to the REACH Directive. This is the case for the following reasons:

  • Our company does not produce any new substances. The tools produced and traded by Diametal are manufactured from
finished materials provided by supplier companies.
  • The lower weight limit stipulated for EU export is not attained.

As has been confirmed to us by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, the substances implemented by our supplier companies must already have been registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). As a Diametal customer, you can therefore rest assured that you are not contravening any EU directives or regulations when using our products.

We are convinced that our information letter gives you the necessary legal certainty for the deployment of our premium tools. Should you have any further questions regarding the new EU REACH Directive, our Head of Safety, Dr.-Ing. Michael Op de Hipt, will be happy to help you further.
